Many actors have had to change their appearance in order for a project to match the ideal image of a director or producer for a role. And, according to Kirsten Dunst, her filming experience Spider Man was no different. The actor had crooked teeth that the team behind the superhero movie wanted to straighten out before production. But, Dunst categorically protested the request.
Kirsten Dunst played MJ in Tobey Maguire’s “Spider-Man” movies
Director Sam Raimi chose Kirsten Dunst to play Mary Jane Watson, aka MJ, in Spider Man one month before the start of filming. MJ is one of Peter Parker’s love interests in the comics, and Dunst was cast to star alongside Tobey Maguire in Spider Man.
In the first two films, Dunst wore a red wig to look more like his comic book counterpart. But in Spider-Man 3, she dyed her hair red.
In the movies, MJ comes from an abusive household and aspires to be an actor. She has an intermittent relationship with Peter throughout the films, but the two end up getting together.
Many fans praised Kirsten Dunst for her portrayal of MJ in the Spider Man trilogy, and it definitely cemented its place in superhero movie history.
The actor did not change his appearance for the films
Through IndieWire, Kirsten Dunst revealed that there had been conversations before the filming of Spider Man concerning the straightening of his teeth. But Dunst held on and refused to change his appearance for the film.
She said, “I was like, ‘Mmmmm, no, I like my teeth. “”
Dunst has already worked on The suicide virgins with Sofia Coppola, who never wanted the actor to straighten his teeth. Dunst recalls: “The fact that the coolest girl liked my appearance was what kept me going. She made me feel pretty. As a 16 year old girl, you feel like crap on yourself, don’t you? So having my first experience of a sexier role through her eyes gave me a confidence that helped me deal with a lot of other things.
Without Sofia Coppola, Kirsten Dunst might have straightened her teeth to Spider Man. She said, “Who knows? I mean, I have a really good mom too, but my mom is someone who could’ve been like, “Yeah, why don’t you have straight teeth? I just remember she wanted to have a facelift or a job, that sort of thing. It never looked good. That kind of vanity… you have to be very careful with that stuff. It made me reject more, I guess.
Will Kirsten Dunst appear in “Spider-Man: No Way Home”?
Rumors regarding the appearance of Sam Raimi actors Spider Man trilogy and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man series in Spider-Man: No Path Home have plagued the Internet. While trailers for the film confirm that many villains from previous Spider-Man films will appear, nothing is certain about the other characters.
In the film, Alfred Molina plays Doctor Octopus, who was in Spider-man 2. Willem Dafoe is reprising his role as Green Goblin from Spider Man trilogy. Jamie Foxx plays Electro, who was in The Incredible Spider-Man 2. And Sandman, who was in Spider-Man 3, and Lizard, which appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man, will also be in the MCU movie.
Like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, Kirsten Dunst insists she’s not in the new Spider Man movie. However, she said Variety that she would be ready to play MJ again. She said, “I would. Why not? It would be fun. I would never say no to something like that.
We’ll have to wait and see if Kirsten Dunst returns to her role as MJ in Spider-Man: No Path Home, which will be released exclusively in theaters on December 17.
