MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) — A video released to the FOX 8 I-Team takes you to a local massage parlor for an investigation into alleged sex work, human trafficking and even 500 clients.

Last week, the FOX 8 I-Team revealed raids on massage parlors in Strongsville, Middleburg Heights and Painesville Township.

Now, Middleburg Heights police video gives us a glimpse of what investigators found there.

In a video clip, officers stop and get out of their cars as others arrive.

The police enter and a woman finds herself handcuffed.

The Cuyahoga County Human Trafficking Task Force and the Ohio Attorney General’s Office conducted the investigation.

They say they have evidence of women being forced to have sex for sale even while living in massage parlours.

In fact, in one video clip, you see a washer and dryer and hear investigators talking about finding food.
Investigators say citizens have complained about these companies. While the case has focused on the people who run these businesses, detectives are also looking closely at hundreds of customers.
Larry Henderhan, a task force commander, said, “Many clients, short periods of time, mostly male clients.

He added: ‘Sexual activity is what’s going on there, that’s what our investigation has shown. There is a request. They wouldn’t be in business if there was no demand for it.

No fees yet. Soon, investigators will present the case to a grand jury at the Cuyahoga County Justice Center. This could lead to charges of sex trafficking, forced labor, financial crimes, etc. The ongoing follow-up investigation will determine which charges will be laid.

The video shows women being arrested. But investigators also rescued several women suspected of being victims of human trafficking.

A group called the Harriet Tubman Movement is already helping some of the women in this case start a new life. Co-founder Laura Bartchak said, “We want them to be safe first and foremost.”

She added: “We’re going to travel the country to find out what program might be best, what options might be best.”
