Ben Affleck reveals movie his kids watched and “admit to loving”

When it comes to Ben Affleck’s film career, his three children are his harshest critics.

While chatting with his pal Matt Damon during an interview for Weekly entertainment, Affleck said the only movie about him that his daughters, Violet, 16, and Seraphina, 13, and son Samuel, 9, actually “admit” to enjoy is the sci-fi action flick by 1998 “Armageddon”.

“It’s funny because it’s the only movie my kids have watched that they’ll all admit to loving, even if they relentlessly laugh at it and me. ‘What are you driving, driving a tank to the moon? ‘”said Affleck, who shares his children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.

“But they had fun, you know what I mean?” he added.

Damon consoled his Oscar-winning colleague by revealing he’s in the same boat. “My kids won’t be looking at my stuff either,” Damon said.

Affleck recalled that before filming “Armageddon,” director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer forced him to get in shape.

“They made me heal my teeth, work out and be sexy. Being sexy, how can I do that? ‘Go to the gym!’ Running in the gym and putting oil on my body and stuff, and it turned out to be a long version of one of those topless calendars for men, in a garage, with a tire, a little greased, ”Affleck said.

“Michael had a vision of a male torso glistening in oil, and he was like, ‘It’s going to go in the trailer and sell tickets!’” He added.

Affleck presumably had no pressure to go to the gym before shooting his latest film, “The Tender Bar,” in which he plays a Long Island bartender who takes his nephew JR (Tye Sheridan) under his wing.

The film was directed by George Clooney, who allowed Affleck, who made his own directorial debut with “Gone Baby Gone” in 2007, to spend time with his children during the filming of the film.

“I think it’s hard to overstate how much the attitude, openness, comfort, generosity of a director permeates the setting and sets the tone. George does it better than I do,” Affleck said. “And he was extremely respectful of the degree to which I take very seriously my need to be there with my children for my half of custody.”

Affleck said Clooney knows better than anyone how important family time is now that he is the father of 4-year-old twins Alexander and Ella with wife Amal Clooney.

“I mean, he went out of his way. You didn’t have to be there until midnight every night (or) erase the rest of your life to do it,” Affleck recalls. “Because he has this spectacular wife, he has his children, he has a very rich and full life.”
