Ben Affleck doesn’t like getting sexy for Michael Bay’s Armageddon

Michael Bay’s 1998 epic disaster “Armageddon” is one of the most critically vilified films of all time. But whatever, because it quadrupled its box office budget and now stands as a cracked cult classic. During a recent curvy encounter with his friend and colleague Matt Damon in Weekly entertainment Supporting his new film “The Tender Bar”, Affleck reflected on the film “Absurd”, in which he plays Liv Tyler’s oil driller and romantic love, AJ Frost.

“They dug two Disney scenes for huge asteroid craters, and I didn’t even think about the fact that the basic premise of the movie was totally absurd,” he said. “Why are they training oil drillers to be astronauts rather than astronauts to be oil drillers?” You would think the learning curve would be a bit steeper down the road from oil drillers to astronauts. But it was fun and the right time.

But, perhaps resentfully, Affleck also remembers being forced to get “sexy” for the film now that he was a renowned male actor and considered an idol in every way thanks to “Good Will. Hunting “(which earned him and Damon an Oscar for Best Screenplay).

“I was a little naive about the opinions people would have of me. Or the way Michael [Bay] and Jerry [Bruckheimer]the emphasis is on aesthetics and “You have to go to the tanning bed!” He said, remembering some of the specific diet he had to follow for the role.

“They made me heal my teeth, train me and be sexy. Be sexy, how to do? ‘Going to the gym!’ Running in the gym and putting oil on my body and stuff, and it turned out to be a long version of one of those topless calendars for men, in a garage, wearing a tire, kinda fat. Michael had a vision of a male torso glistening in oil, and he thought to himself, “It’s going to go in the trailer and sell tickets!” And you know, what can you say? We could have done, I think, 400 ‘Chasing Amys’ for what we did ‘Armageddon’ for.

He added that the movie is one that “my kids have watched and will all admit to loving, even if they relentlessly laugh at him and me. “What are you driving a tank on the moon?” But they had fun, you know what I mean? They won’t even watch ‘The Town’. So this is it. “
